Ryan had a close call with a potentially costly scam, but thanks to the quick thinking and excellent customer service provided by Hailee Lord (SSA – Bardin Branch), he avoided a 19,800 dollar loss!

Recently, Ryan had withdrawn $19,800 in cash to give back to what he thought was a representative from Paypal. The night before, Ryan was contacted by a fraudster who convinced him to transfer $20,000 from his savings account, claiming it was a credit from Paypal. The fraudster then instructed him to withdraw the extra $19,800 and return it immediately.

As Ryan was on his way to meet the fraudster at a gas station, he decided to stop by the Bardin Branch one more time. Hailee Lord took the time to look further into the account and examine the text messages he received. Hailee was able to effectively explain that it was not a deposit, but a transfer of Ryan’s funds. She then secured the cash back into his account and Ryan was extremely grateful. Hailee then assisted in changing his passwords and advised him to keep his computer turned off until it could be inspected by a professional.
